Becoming the parent you needed

For parents and caregivers who want to understand the hard moments, not just manage them.

What to Expect:

Understand what we carry Workshop

Explore how early childhood experiences, unmet needs, old narratives, and nervous system patterns can shape our reactions in the present.

Nervous System Workshop

Learn about sensory needs and what can happen when your child needs more noise, movement, space, or connection than your own system can comfortably hold. We’ll explore practical ways to notice activation, pause, and find our way back to connection.

Rest + Integration

We’ll close with a 45-minute restorative sound bath with Alex Vu of Nichi Healing, offering space to settle, integrate the day, and simply receive.

Join us in learning how to hold the hard.

Meet Ronna

You may have heard about them…Ronna + Georgia at Deeply Rooted.

Ronna Kit, RSW, is the founder of Deeply Rooted Consulting, a Nanaimo-based practice supporting children, youth, and families through a connection-based, neuroaffirming lens.

With over 15 years in child and family services, including child protection and work for and wish Indigenous communities across BC, she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work.

Grounded in attachment and nervous system regulation, Ronna believes behaviour is communication. She supports children with the deepest of big feelings, neurodiversity, anxiety, and sensory differences, while guiding parents toward more connected, sustainable ways of showing up in the nuances of their unique family system.

As a parent to two boys, in a blended family, Ronna understands the complexity of caregiving and co-parenting. Her work is rooted in authenticity, compassion, and real-life application ~ walking with families to feel truly seen, supported, and deeply understood.

Meet Alex

Meet Yumiko

Yumiko Kakutani from Kitsune Counselling and Consulting is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) and consultant based in Nanaimo and has worked with families for over 20 years.

Her approach blends the neuroscience of attachment and child development, nervous system and sensory processing care when talking about complex topics like trauma.

She works with folks to explore how their early childhood experiences can quietly impact their parenting and support the process of aligning how they intentionally want to show up for their kids. Yumiko is continually amazed by the human spirit’s ability to repair and heal relationships in families and communities.

She is also a busy mom to two humans and one big fur baby!

Alex is a holistic healing practitioner whose work includes Reiki, sound healing, yoga, and mindfulness. Their approach is rooted in simplicity, grounding, and honouring each person’s unique healing journey.

Through both individual offerings and community gatherings, Alex creates spaces that invite people to slow down, notice what is happening within, and reconnect with themselves with greater awareness and ease.

Their work is guided by a desire to build community around holistic wellbeing, meaningful connection, and leaving the world a little better than we found it.

Alex will close the workshop with a 45-minute restorative sound bath using Himalayan singing bowls, offering space to integrate the day, settle the nervous system, and simply receive.

Sometimes the hardest part of parenting isn’t what our children are doing. It’s what those moments bring up in us.

Parenting can activate old stories, unmet needs, sensory overwhelm, and protective responses we may not even realize we carry.

In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore why certain moments with our children can feel so intense, what happens when our nervous system and sensory needs collide with theirs, and how our own early experiences continue to shape the way we respond.

This isn’t about finding the perfect parenting script.

It’s about understanding what is happening beneath the reaction, tending to the parts of ourselves that need care, and creating enough space to meet our children…and ourselves…in the present moment.

We’ll explore nervous system regulation, sensory processing, childhood experiences, grief, triggers, connection, and repair, with practical ways to pause and respond differently when things get hard.

We’d love to have you.
